Privacy Policy

The short version: We collect the minimum needed to run the app — your account info, what you've trained, and whether you're a paying subscriber. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't share with anyone outside the services that make the app work. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, anytime.

1. Who We Are

Grapple Flow is operated by HMK Co. ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Grapple Flow mobile app and the website at grappleflow.net (together, the "Service").

2. What We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address (or Apple-issued private relay address if you use Sign in with Apple)
  • Display name (optional, you set it)
  • Belt rank, primary style, and other profile fields you choose to fill in

Training Data

We store the data you create inside the app, including:

  • Custom chains and saved positions
  • Journal entries and round logs
  • Promotion history (belts, stripes, dates)
  • Friend connections and partner tags

This data is yours. We do not analyze it for advertising or sell it to third parties.

Purchase & Subscription Data

When you subscribe or make an in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple and verified by RevenueCat (our subscription management provider). We receive your subscription status (active / lapsed / never-purchased) but never see your payment card, Apple ID password, or billing address.

Diagnostic & Crash Data

When the app encounters an error, we record what went wrong (the error message, where it happened in code, and basic device info such as iOS version and app build) so we can fix it. Crash records include your account ID so we can tell whether the same user is hitting the same problem repeatedly. They do not include training content, messages, or passwords.

What We Do Not Collect

  • Location, GPS, or precise location
  • Contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or camera (the app does not request these permissions)
  • Browsing history outside the app
  • Advertising identifiers (we don't run ads)
  • Health, fitness, or biometric data from HealthKit

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To run the Service — sign you in, sync your data across your devices, deliver the features you use.
  • To process subscriptions — verify your purchase status with Apple, unlock paid features.
  • To improve the app — fix bugs we learn about from crash reports, decide what to build next.
  • To support you — respond when you email us.

We do not use your data to train any AI model.

4. Who We Share It With

We share information only with the service providers that make the app work, and only what's needed for them to do their job:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication & Firestore) — stores your account and training data. Firebase Privacy
  • RevenueCat — verifies and manages subscriptions. RevenueCat Privacy
  • Apple — processes purchases, provides Sign in with Apple, distributes the app via the App Store. Apple Privacy

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics platforms beyond what's listed above.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account and training data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to keep transaction records for tax or accounting purposes (typically up to 7 years for purchase receipts).

Crash logs are automatically pruned after 90 days.

6. Your Rights — Including Account Deletion

You can delete your Grapple Flow account at any time from inside the app:

  1. Open the app and go to the Me tab
  2. Scroll to Account
  3. Tap Delete Account and confirm

This permanently removes your profile, training data, journal entries, custom chains, and friend connections. Active subscriptions must be canceled separately through your Apple ID account settings — we cannot cancel them on Apple's behalf.

If you cannot access the app, email us at support@grappleflow.net from the address on your account and we will process the deletion within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

7. Children's Privacy

Grapple Flow is rated 4+ on the App Store and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please email us and we will delete the account.

8. Security

Your data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) infrastructure with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will notify you if we ever discover that your account was compromised.

9. International Users

Grapple Flow is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where Firebase and RevenueCat operate.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will update this page when this policy changes. Material changes (anything that expands what we collect or how we use it) will be announced inside the app at next launch. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
